Wedding day moments — Danielle + Josh

Wedding dress: Caleche Bridal House
Groom’s attire: Peter Shearer Menswear
Bridesmaids dresses: Witchery
Ceremony & Reception venue: Glen Ewin Estate (The Pulpshed)
Flowers: Cottage Flowers
Makeup: Kara Fantasia
Hair: Chloe Reed

Danielle + Josh were married on a gorgeous summer’s day in January, at the Glen Ewin Estate, Houghton. I had been so excited to photograph their wedding since the day I met this beautiful couple! They are both so down-to-earth, genuine and sweet, and were very enthusiastic about their wedding! As was I! Glen Ewin Estate is one of my all time favourite wedding venues, there is always infinite possibilities for amazing backdrops in photos in the area!

Surrounded by their family and friends, Danielle + Josh were married by Josh’s adorable Grandfather, which was extremely special, as “Grandpa” had also been the minister for Josh’s parents when they were married many years ago. It was such an honour to be witness to such an intimate and joyous celebration, and to be able to capture such beautiful memories for Danielle + Josh.

Please enjoy a handful of my most favourite photos of their day…

Josh loves playing footy, so it was only fitting that the he and the boys have a quick kick in the morning!

Over at Danielle’s, it was all nice and calm, and very girlie! I loved it!

Such a beautiful bride!

Josh’s grandpa did a beautiful job of the ceremony.

Loved the time we spent taking the bridal portraits. Such a fantastic group of people!

I adored the details that Danielle + Josh had at their wedding reception!

First dance as husband and wife.

Danielle + Josh, thank you so much for choosing me to be a part of your most beautiful day!

Wedding day moments — Alice + Josh

Alice + Josh were married on the 7th of January, and I could not have wished for a more beautiful couple to kick off the 2012 wedding season with! From the moment I met them, I knew that I just had  to photograph their wedding! Alice is one of those beautiful girls, with an infectious personality and stunning smile, and Josh is a super cutie.  They really are just the cutest little lovebirds and were planning the most beautiful day.  Their ceremony was held the gorgeous Stangate House in Aldgate, with the reception held at the Kooyonga Golf Club.

The weather for the day wasn’t looking that good, with storms and heavy rain predicted for the afternoon. But it didn’t dampen the excitement in the air for Alice + Josh!  Luckily the rain stayed away for the most important parts of the day–the ceremony and photo session, yay!  It wasn’t until we were hooning around the golf course in those super cool golf carts, that it started bucketing down.  And I mean bucketing down!!  It was quite funny to see 5 little golf carts racing back to the safety of some shelter!

I loved everything about Alice + Josh’s wedding. They are such a great couple and I know that they will have a long and happy life together!

Now on with this show!…

As usual, my day started out with the guys. Josh said he wasn’t nervous, but I’m not sure if I believe him!

The handsome lads.

Meet Alice. Such a happy bride!

Josh is such a romantic. Once when Alice had been away on a school camp (she’s a teacher), she came home to find a squillion little hearts hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom. Josh had made each and every one of them, and spent hours hanging them up to surprise her. Adorable!

“I’m getting married!”

Josh gets the word that his bride has arrived.  Let the nervous lip biting begin!

Alice cried as she walked towards her groom. I love moments like those.

Married! Smooch!

LOVED the portrait session time… so many gorgeous spots at Stangate House.

Alice got a little cheeky…

Time for some fun on the golf carts!

Alice + Josh, thank you for a day of perfection!

Wedding day moments — Laura + Simon

Hairdresser/Makeup: Texture and Hue, Tanunda
Groom’s preparation accommodation: Novotel Barossa Valley
Bride’s preparation accommodation: Stonewell Cottages
Ceremony: St Johns Lutheran Church, Tanunda
Reception: The Farm Barossa Function Centre
Band: Rush Hour

(This is probably going to be a long post, so perhaps go and grab yourself a cuppa:))

I had promised myself at the end of 2010, that I would never again shoot a wedding the week before Christmas, because I was so exhausted by the time Christmas day had arrived, that I slept through it!…  That was until I got Laura’s email… She first contacted me quite a few months before their wedding while she was living with Simon, in Darwin. The subject of the email was “17 December 2011″, and I quickly realised that it was the week before Christmas.  Laura’s email was unlike any normal enquiry. She had written quite a lengthy message about her love for Simon, how excited she was about their wedding day, and how she had fallen in love with my photography, and was very much hoping that I would be available. Well, basically, she had me at hello. So there went my promise to myself, and I happily replied to Laura and told her that I would be available.  She booked me on the spot and we were both very excited.

A couple of months later, Laura + Simon had travelled down from the NT to organise their wedding plans, and it was during this time that we met in person. I still maintain to this day that Laura could have pre-warned me that she had legs that went up to my eyeballs! She’s gorgeous!! Miss Glamazon:)  And Simon, well he is truly gorgeous as well. Such a beautiful and gentle soul, not to mention dashingly handsome.  (Poor Simon, was so unwell at our meeting, but kept soldiering on, only to find out later that he’d had pneumonia!) As we discussed the details of their day, Laura got teary with excitement, and I felt so privileged to be able to share in their wedding.  I could not wait!

Finally their wedding day arrived. And it did not disappoint! It had absolutely everything you could think of… Laughter (LOTS of laughter), tears (lots of those too), rain, hail, wind, thunder and lightning, and a gorgeous rainbow. PLUS, dancing. LOTS of dancing at the reception. I loved it, and enjoyed having a little twirl myself!

My assistant for the day, Tanya, and I travelled up to Tanunda the night before so that we could get an early start with the girls at the salon. It was here that we met Laura’s bridesmaids, and a special mention to Amy who had us in stitches from the get-go. After the salon, we headed over to the Novotel to meet up with Simon and the boys. Such a great bunch!  Simon’s parents were also there and were as lovely as could be!  His mum is gorgeous and had a little cry every time she looked at Simon. It was soon time to finish up with the boys and head back to the girls at Stonewell Cottages.  Now, let me give you a hot tip… don’t always listen to your GPS!!  Mine decided to take Tanya and I cross-country along a MUD road. We were slip-sliding all over the road, mud was flicking up everywhere! My poor little car only just made it back to a normal road. It was actually quite a scary experience, and unless you are a rally car driver or driving a 4WD, I would recommend avoiding roads made of mud.  But we made it back to the girls and everyone was enjoying a lovely glass of bubbly! Yes please!

I really should stop talking and let the photos tell the story, but I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to not only Laura + Simon, but also to their friends and family. Tanya and I were made to feel so very welcome, and really felt more like guests on the day than virtual strangers. We were sent home with a car full of beautiful flowers and delicious wine (from Simon’s Uncle’s vineyard “Seize the Day – Milhinch Wines“), and felt very spoilt by all the hugs and kisses as we left. I’m so glad I didn’t keep the promise to myself about not photographing a wedding before Christmas, because I will truly remember Laura + Simon’s wedding for the rest of my life. I loved it.

Now, on with the show!

Here are the girls getting pampered at Texture & Hue!

Meet Simon.
He was a busy bee when I arrived!
He then showed me the beautiful present that Laura had bought him… a fancy pants watch!

Simon and his mum. I live for moments like this.

Back at Laura’s, it was time to get dressed!

Time to get married! Exciting!

Newlyweds!

When it was time to do some portraits, we were all crossing our fingers that the rain would stay away.  It did for a short time, but then it absolutely bucketed down!!  Laura + Simon were absolute troopers though, and made the best out of the weather situation! Gumboots!

The weather soon became so bad that we decided to head over to the reception venue a little earlier, where everyone had alot of fun
cooking up a storm in Maggie Beer’s kitchen!

The beautiful bride.

The Farm Barossa Function Centre is always fabulous, and the details Laura + Simon had planned were gorgeous!

Just after the reception started, the skies cleared and so we quickly ran outside to get some more shots of Laura + Simon in the vineyards.
It was stunning!

Love. Laugh. Dance.

Laura + Simon, I know I’ve told you already, but I adore you both and I am so blessed to have been able to share your wedding day with you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wedding day moments — Carly + Phil

Ceremony: Payneham Road Uniting Church
Reception: The Observatory Function Centre
Wedding gown: Spurling Bridal and Formalwear (with some additions made my Carly herself)
Bridesmaids: ASOS
Groom’s attire: Peter Shearer Menswear
Wedding rings: Michael Hill and Mazzone
Flowers: Semaphore Flowers
Hair: Fl’Hair Hair & Beauty
Makeup: Chloe Northcott

From the moment I met with Carly + Phil, I knew their wedding was going to be spectacular. On a perfect summer’s day in December, their day finally rolled around and it was everything I had anticipated and more! Carly + Phil are the kind of people that I love hanging out with… easy to talk to, down-to-earth, relaxed and fun! They’re so completely crazy in love with each other, and their friends and family are some of the nicest people imaginable.

Their bridal party were brilliant… four girls… four guys… and all married couples!  It seems that Carly + Phil were the last ones to get married within their close-knit group, so the day was extra special. This group of people were awesome to spend the day with. I laughed ALOT throughout the entire day, and then, thanks to Lonnie and Clay (groomsmen), was in happy tears at the reception. Truly beautiful moments filled the day for Carly + Phil, and  it was an honour to be a part of their celebration.

Please enjoy some of my favourites!

I first met up with Carly and the girls at the salon to capture some of the getting ready moments.

From there, I went over to visit the guys.

The handsome boys.

Once I’d finished with the boys, I went back to Carly’s to capture her finishing touches. Her dress was stunning!

Carly wanted to look like a fairy from the forrest on her wedding day.  I think she looked enchanting. Just perfect.

So excited!

Married!

We had so much fun with taking their portraits! Lots of laughing, smooching and singing!

Carly + Phil included their parents during their photo session. Love that! And love this super cute family portrait!

Here’s Phil… channelling his inner “Robin Hood”. I may or may not have heard the words “You’d better not put this on your blog” come out of his mouth… I’m going with may NOT have heard that;-)

Spontaneous singing of “New York, New York”!!

Following the spontaneous singing, they surprised me with an impromptu dance off!! So much fun!

At the very beginning of the reception, Groomsmen Lonny and Clay surprised everyone, including Carly + Phil, with a performance of “Love and Marriage”. It was awesome – gave me goosebumps and happy tears! All of the guests were up on the feet, singing and clapping.
Totally set the scene for a brilliant night. Loved it!

Carly + Phil, it was beyond a pleasure photographing your wedding! Thank you for sharing your day with me.

Wedding day moments — Jackie + Jun

Reception: The Edinburgh
Wedding dress: Designed and made in Hong Kong
Suits: Tailor made in Hong Kong
Engagement ring: Tiffany’s
Wedding rings: Cartier
Hair and Makeup: Eunbi Jung
Flowers: Biz-e-Brides

When I first met Jackie + Jun, we sat and talked for quite some time.  I loved listening to them as they shared so much about their life together and their vision for their wedding day. I remember just wanting to squish them because they were so cute, and was excited to see how beautifully their day would come together. It did not disappoint!  They were such a joy to be around the entire day, as were their family and friends! Jackie’s father had travelled all the way from Hong Kong to attend the day, and Jun’s parents travelled from Korea.

Please enjoy some of my favourites from their day!

Meet Jun, the cutie-pie groom!

Look how cute Jun’s mum is!

Over at Jackie’s, all of the details were beautiful. As was she.

Jackie’s dad was extremely proud.

Time to get married!

Jun asked if they could all jump. Sure! And didn’t Jun just nail it!

Jackie + Jun, you are both truly delightful! I wish you all the joy and happiness in your lives together!
